Smt Draupadi Murmu was the 9th Governor of Jharkhand. From 2015 to 2021, she diligently served the duties of the governor. Draupadi Murmu Early Life
Draupadi Murmu was born in the district of Odisha, Mayurbani. She comes from Santhal family background. That is a tribal ethnic group of Jharkhand. She was not engaged in political activity from the beginning. In fact, she first started her career as an Assistant Teacher at the Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre. And after that, she took part in the irrigation and power department with the government of Odisha.
Murmu Political Career
It was not until 1997 that her work in politics started showing good results. She was elected as the councillor. During the same year, when she got elected as the local councillor, she won the title of the state vice president of the BJP’s Scheduled Tribes Morcha. She even won the Rairangpur MLA seat twice with the BJP ticket. And in 2002 she became the State Minister of the Odisha Government. After that, she served many roles under the Bhartiya Janta Party. In 2017, Smt Draupadi Murmu was a strong contender for the presidential position. However, Mr. Ramnath Kovid succeeded in getting the title. Back in the current year, the decision to make Mrs Murmu the presidential candidate came from the Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh election assembly. These four states had a total of 128 seats kept for the Scheduled tribe. Out of which, 35 seats have been won by the Bhartiya Janta Party just won in the last election assembly.
With 48% electoral votes from the National Democratic Alliance, her winning the president seat is expected. With Murmu running for the presidential title, the party is expected to get votes from the tribal community. Mr. Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha welcomed Murmu as the candidate for the presidential post and showed support for her.
