How does Food Security Scheme work?
The Food Security Scheme is a step toward reviving the provisions under the National Food Security Ac. The goal is to unify and clarify the mission. The Food Corporation of India will monitor the 5.33 lakh ration shops across the country. The General Managers to examine three shops every day. The job will be to check the implementation of fair and impartial food grains is the vision of this scheme.
The daily analysis by the officials is implemented to ensure corruption-free usage of the food, causing a bearing of no less than 2 lakh crore to the government. The project is passed for a year from the 1st of January till the 31st of December 2023. Not only does it deals with distribution, but the government also needs to procure enough rations to enable this technique.
How can one benefit from this strategy?
Since this method is just the seventh phase of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), the beneficiaries of this plan will be those who were already signed up under the PMGKAY act of 2016.
The 80 crore citizens Below-Poverty-Line who earlier received 5kg per person for free will now get to make use of this plan for another year. Apart from these, all those who were signed up under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (Poorest of the Poor) and Priorities Household persons (PHH) will be benefitted under this 2023 scheme.
Benefits of the integrated food security scheme
This subsidy, provided by the government, will be a significant step towards recovering the 224.3 million malnutrition people in the country. The enactment of this shall be monitored by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution. The cabinet led by Shree Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, made this decision. The decision was passed on the 23rd of December, 2022. This has worked as an extension for the AAY enacted during the lockdown. The task favoured the poor severely affected by the covid lockdown.
The integrated food grain scheme is causing a lot of burden upon the shoulders of the government, but eventually, it will eradicate the hunger problems of India. India’s 16% population is malnutrition. The lack of nutrition results in low working capacity and a poor economy in the country. The 2023 scheme will help in these aspects of national improvisation.
The government will be able to control the wastage of grains due to food accumulation in the godowns. The lockdown of 2020 resulted in the pilling up of food grains at the dungeons for no use. The poor went hungry, and the food was redundant. This integrated food security scheme is like starting a new slate towards better food management.
